Providing water near our homes and provision of her basic necessities will help her stay longer and more comfortable in school.
According to UNICEF, approximately 200 million hours are spent, more so by girls and women, in fetching water every day worldwide. UNICEF terms this as a “colossal waste of time.”
The situation in our rural community is never different, most girls and women fetch water for the family from the springs. With most springs on the verge of drying up more time is spent fetching water affecting time for other activities.
ISCoD believes in providing solutions that will ensure access to sufficient and safe water near our homes this will prevent our girls from walking over 1-2kms on average to fetch water and spend more time in school.
A study in Tanzania showed that school attendance increased by 12% when water was available within 15 minutes of home.
Also, ISCoD will also support the provision of basic necessities for our school-going girls to ensure a more comfortable life at school as they work towards unlocking their potentials.
