Environment & Climate Change
We are commited to fostering sustainable future for our people. Our programmes address environmental sustainability and community climate action and resiliency

Environment & Climate Change Education
We are nurturing a generation aware of environmental conservation and climate change mitigation. Our education program focuses on primary school children, equipping them with knowledge about nature conservation, climate change impacts, and their role in protecting the planet. The program uses interactive content and practical sessions to enhance learning and retention. Sustainability is ensured through WASH and Environment clubs, allowing trained members to share materials with new participants. To scale the initiative, we collaborate with partners to replicate it in other areas and engage educators to explore integrating the program into the school curriculum for broader impact and continuity.

Plastic Waste Recycling Workshop
We promote a circular economy in plastic usage through recycling initiatives. Our project employs portable, energy-efficient recycling machines—shredder, compressor, and extruder—designed by the Precious Plastics team, enabling household-level recycling to eliminate waste from homes. The compact machines focus on producing small items like door knobs, cloth clips, desk flower vases, earrings, and more from plastic waste. This initiative demonstrates practical solutions to reduce plastic pollution and repurpose waste into useful products. The project was made possible with the support of World Relief Australia and the leadership of our Executive Director, Alicia Moraa, ensuring impactful and sustainable implementation.

Eco-friendly Packaging from Banana
This project focuses on climate change mitigation and empowering groups often excluded from climate action—women, youth, and people with disabilities—despite being among the most affected. It aims to create eco-friendly alternatives to plastic, such as shopping bags, tote bags, product packaging sachets, egg trays, and more. Currently in the research and development phase, the initiative is being implemented in collaboration with Nyangorora Banana Processors, a local company specializing in the banana value chain, particularly in reducing food loss. Upon full implementation, the project will engage and empower women, youth, and people with disabilities in Kisii and Nyamira counties, creating sustainable income opportunities through banana value chain activities.

Ecosystem Restoration: Green Earth Project
This project is part of our community give-back initiative, aiming to donate 100 seedlings monthly, focusing on water-friendly and fruit trees, to public institutions such as schools, health facilities, and local government offices, including during national events. The project aligns with the national goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032. We propagate seedlings at our Mosocho office and collaborate with local nurseries and Kenya Forest Service, Kisii, to meet demand. Additionally, we support schools involved in our Environment and Climate Change Education program in establishing their own tree nurseries to complement and sustain our reforestation efforts.
