Sustainable community development initiatives result from collaborative efforts by all key players in that community. It could be government, development organizations, local and international partners, community-based organizations (CBOs), and self-driven community members or representatives.
Initiative for Sustainable Community Development (ISCoD) NGO has been one of the vibrant local NGOs based in Kisii County driving sustainable development agenda. This has been through carrying out projects in water, environment, and climate change and engaging like-minded organizations to ensure its impact reaches more people. ISCoD’s meetup with Kisii Endelevu Trust Initiative (KETI) was driven by a desire to create impactful collaborations and partnerships.
KETI is an organization based in Kisii County that acts as an umbrella for civil society organizations and a pillar to link them with the government and private sector by asserting their collective voice in favor of transparency and accountability, geared towards attaining self-reliance.
The meeting’s main objective was organization familiarization. Key areas of interest for each organization and opportunities available for collaboration and partnership. ISCoD organization has its key programmes in Water, Environment, and Climate Change while KETI focuses on research and creation of county repository data, promoting community philanthropy through partnerships, sourcing and providing technical and financial support, and also leadership development.
Those in attendance were ISCoD Team; Samsone (Head of Programmes), Wycliffe Ombachi(Head of Planning and Finance), Calvin (ICT and Marketing), on the other side from KETI; Asha Moronya, Stephanie, and Vincent.
